Long Beach to begin enforcing short-term rental policy April 22

After a year of waiting, officials are finally putting the City Council-approved short-term rental policy into effect. Starting on April 22nd, property owners will no longer be allowed to list their homes for more than 30 days per year unless they apply and receive official approval from Long Beach’s Planning Department. The new ordinance is designed to help address housing affordability by ensuring that homeowners have use and access to their properties most often during times when it would otherwise go vacant or unused – namely over summer vacation months like July through September; as well as weekends in between school semesters (i.e., December) which can afford students with much-needed relief from high rents while still allowing them time off-campus to work if desired without having to drive back home.
